Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi discussed on Monday in Paris with French minister of defense Florence Parly increasing military cooperation between Egypt and France, the state-owned MENA news agency reported.
They also discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, including the war on terrorism and the situation in Libya.
Minister Parly received President El-Sisi at the headquarters of the French Ministry of Defence in Paris, after which a dinner was held in El-Sisi’s honour.
Egypt has made several purchases of French military hardware in recent years, the most recent of which was a Gowind 2500 corvette naval vessel, which arrived in Alexandria earlier this month. The vessel is one of four such models purchased by Egypt in a deal signed in 2014.
El-Sisi, who is currently on his third official visit to France since he was elected president in 2014, is set to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday.
