A Cairo prosecution office on Monday ordered the detention of controversial television presenter Reham Saeed, along with a cameraman and the editor-in-chief of her program, on charges of inciting kidnapping of children.

The prosecutor ordered the detention of Saeed for four days, and the cameraman and editor for 15 days each.

In an episode of Saeed's program Sabaya El-Kheir, she and her crew used a mediator to convince kidnappers to abduct two children, claiming that they would be sold to a family in an Arab country, with the intention of recording the exchange and reporting the kidnappers to the police.

In late January, the family of the two children, who are from Salam neighborhood in Cairo, reported their disappearance.

When the kidnappers were caught, they accused the same mediator who had appeared on Saeed's show of involvement in the crime. In turn, he pointed the finger at the show's editor and cameraman.

Saeed said in the investigation that her program has served the interests of the Egyptian children, denying any involvement in the kidnapping of the two children.
