Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and Greek counterpart Prokopis Pavlopoulos will visit the Egyptian city of Alexandria on Monday to inaugurate the first Roots Revival Week alongside Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.

The cultural festival will be held in Alexandria and Sharm El-Sheikh from 30 April to 6 May with participation of Greek and Cypriot communities, according to a previous statement by Egypt's foreign ministry.

Egyptian, Cypriot and Greek ties have strengthened since President El-Sisi assumed office in 2014.

Since 2014, the countries’ leaders have gathered for five tripartite summits. The most recent was held in Nicosia in November 2017.

The three partners are cooperating closely and regularly on several regional and international issues, chief among them security in the Mediterranean.
