Ethiopian Prime minister Abiy Ahmed met on Tuesday with Egyptian foreign minister Sameh Shoukry and head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate Abbas Kamel in Addis Ababa on the sidelines of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) tripartite talks between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia, the Egyptian foreign ministry announced.
According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, Ahmed affirmed in the meeting his full commitment to boosting and developing relations with Egypt in the interest of both the Egyptian and Ethiopian peoples.
Shoukry, Kamel and Minister of Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Aati are meeting with their Sudanese and Ethiopian counterparts in Addis Ababa to discuss the latest developments in the GERD talks and how to propel them forward.
The Egyptian foreign ministry added that the Egyptian delegation formally invited Ahmed to visit Cairo as soon as possible.
