Egypt's foreign ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid said the ministry has created an online page providing information for Egyptian fans looking to travel to Russia to support the Egyptian national football team in the 2018 World Cup.
The ministry said it is communicating on a daily basis with the Egyptian embassy in Russia as well as Russian authorities to update the online information as needed.
The information includes what papers and identification documents should be carried by Egyptian fans in Russia, as well as entry and departure dates, accommodation, residence, and financial transfer logistics.
The page also offers general instructions such as addressees for fan centres and registry offices.
"The ministry will operate hotlines around the clock during the World Cup to receive and answer fan inquiries," according to a statement by the ministry.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation Makram Mohamed Ahmed said that the council is undertaking extensive efforts to ensure that fans within Egypt can watch the World Cup games.
"We and others have made efforts and are following up with the Arab Broadcasting Union in Tunisia to obtain broadcast rights as a participant in the World Cup," Makram said on Sunday.
