The head of Al-Azhar, Ahmed Al-Tayeb, has announced the launch of an anti-sectarian project, “Family House”.
“Family House” will be a committee made up of both Muslim and Christian scholars aiming to unite Egyptians and working to find solutions to sectarianism and communal tension.
Al-Tayeb has been consulting with the Egyptian Church to launch this project and it will serve as a voice of Al-Azhar and the Church with specialists from both sides to meet weekly to discuss any related issues.
The project is due to start in the next few weeks.
