“Family House” project announced to tackle sectarianism in Egypt

Ahmed Al-Tayeb announces initiative that will give a common voice for Al-Azhar and Church

The head of Al-Azhar, Ahmed Al-Tayeb, has announced the launch of an anti-sectarian project, “Family House”.

“Family House” will be a committee made up of both Muslim and Christian scholars aiming to unite Egyptians and working to find solutions to sectarianism and communal tension.

Al-Tayeb has been consulting with the Egyptian Church to launch this project and it will serve as a voice of Al-Azhar and the Church with specialists from both sides to meet weekly to discuss any related issues.

The project is due to start in the next few weeks.
