Egypt, Spain conclude joint naval exercises in Mediterranean and Rea seas

Egypt and Spain concluded on Tuesday joint naval exercises that were held for several days in Egyptian territorial waters in the Mediterranean and Red seas, the Egyptian Armed Forces said in a statement.

Several Egyptian naval units including modern naval vessels participated in the exercises, including Mistral helicopter carrier Anwar El-Sadat, an S41 submarine, the Al-Zafer frigate as well as the El-Suez and El-Fateh corvettes.

Spain participated with aircraft carrier Juan Carlos I and missile frigate Blas de Lezo.

The exercises included drills with live ammunition as well as helicopter support in naval combat.

The exercises were concluded with a visit by Spanish naval commander Teodoro Calderon to the Egyptian naval headquarters in Alexandria.
