Egypt's education ministry said it had identified students who leaked papers online from the 'thanaweya amma' (high school) final dynamics and psychology exams one hour after it started on Sunday.

The Ministry withdrew the entry of the students who leaked the exam and will refer them to the relevant authorities for legal procedures.

The students are said to have been identified as coming from Assiut, Beni Suef and Kafr El-Sheikh governorates.

The sharing of questions and answers of the dynamics and psychology exams is the latest in a string of online leaks since the thanaweya amma exam season, which is standardized across the country, started three weeks ago.

The questions and answers of the French, English, Arabic language, algebra and solid geometry, physics and history exams have all been leaked online during the exam, allowing students who managed to smuggle their mobile phones into exam rooms to copy the answers.

More than 650,000 students are sitting this year's tests.

Over recent years, exam questions and answers for several thanaweya amma subjects have been leaked online, prompting officials to cancel, void or postpone some exams and investigate possible leaks from within the education ministry.

Egypt's Parliament approved amendments last year to a law toughening penalties for academic cheating and other exam violations, including publishing exam questions and papers and possessing mobile phones and other wireless devices in examination rooms.

Penalties for contributing to exam leaks include hefty fines of EGP 100,000-200,000 and jail terms between two and seven years.
