The Egyptian Association for the Assistance of Juveniles and Human Rights (EAAJHR) has documented incidents where children were being used as tools of campaigning for the ongoing parliamentary elections, an illegal action according to Article 126 of the penal code 2008 and Article 64 of the Criminal Code 2010.
According to the statement released by the EAAJHR the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) , Reform and Development, Wafd and the salafist Nour party have all been using children in their campaigns around different regions of Egypt such as North Sinai, Marsa Matrouh, Qena and Gharbiya whether through leafleting or standing outside electoral polls in elections day holding banners and wearing t-shirts and badges with candidates pictures.
