The Ministry of Health announced on Saturday the death of three people and the injury of two others after a two-floor building collapsed in the district of Shoubra in north Cairo. 

The collapse was attributed by the ministry to the old age of the building.

Khaled Megahed, the spokesman for the ministry, said that three ambulances rushed to the scene and transferred the injured to the Shoubra General Hospital.

Megahed also noted that the bodies of the deceased were taken to the morgue for autopsies.

In February 2018, a similar incident occurred with the collapse of two buildings in Cairo's Manshiyet Nasser area. Eighteen were injured and three people died.
