Egypt extends condolences to victims of Indonesia's earthquake and tsunami

Egypt supports Indonesia's ability to recover after tsunami and earthquake hit the island of Sualwesi

Egypt extended on Staurday its deepest condolences over deaths from the earthquake and tsunami that rocked the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs read. 

According to Reuters, the death toll from the earthquake and tsunami had risen to 384 on Saturday, with many of those killed swept away by the giant waves.

"Egypt offers its sincerest condolences to the families of the victims, and stresses its confidence in the Indonesian people that they would survive this tragic incident,"  the statement read.

The statement also emphasised that the Egyptian government and its people stand alongside Indonesia, and remain confident in its ability to recover.
