Egyptian police have seized 121 artifacts from the home of a foreign national living in Cairo, the interior minister said late Tuesday.
Tourism and antiquities police targeted the man's home in the upscale Zamalek district of central Cairo after accusations of illegally smuggling antiquities in another incident, the ministry said in a statement published on its official Facebook page.
The statement did not specify the man's nationality or if he has been detained.
The artifacts include 86 pieces from different eras of ancient Egyptian civilisation. Authorities will examine the rest of the pieces to decide on their archeological value.
The ministry shared video footage of the seized items showing over two dozen wall frames, a number of antique wooden furniture pieces, metal swords and lanterns, and other items.
