The Egyptian Railway Authority (ERA) has decided to stop the movement of trains from Cairo to Alexandria in Kafr El Dawwar because of a sit-in on the railways by El Behaira Holding Company workers for the second day in row.

The second day of the workers’ sit-in has delayed the movement of 130 trains, resulting in a loss of LE3 million. The ERA has assigned busses to transport the travellers from Kafr El Dawwar station to Sidi Gabr Station in Alexandria.

The workers are demanding that the government re-nationalise the company per the orders of former prime minister Essam Sharaf. They are also demanding that El Behaira Holding Company pay them their salaries from last month.
