The Egyptian consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia announced on Friday that it had sent an envoy to the city of Jizan to understand the circumstances behind the murder of an Egyptian pharmacist on Thursday.
Ahmed Taha Hassan, 29, was killed while working at a pharmacy in the Saudi Arabian city.
The Saudi authorities are investigating the case.
According to the short statement issued on Friday, the consulate followed up on procedures to transfer Hassan’s body back to Egypt.
The consulate also asked the Egyptian community in Saudi Arabia “not to heed or share any rumours” that could impede the official investigations into the incident.
