Agriculture Minister Ezz El-Din Abu Steit and Aswan’s Governor Ahmed Ibrahim inaugurated a solar power plant in Kalabsha village in the governorate on Friday.

The new solar power plant will provide electricity to the residents of the village all day long, the minister said.

The 125-kilowatt plant will also reduce the consumption of fuel and distillate diesel oil.

The power plant zworks in combination with a 50-kilowatt diesel generator, he added.

Two other solar power stations will be built in the Nubian villages of Thomas Wa Afiya and Bashair El-Khir, he noted.

The pair also inspected a water desalination plant in Kalabsha.
