Egypt extends condolences to Indonesia over Tsunami victims

Egypt offered its sincere condolences to Indonesia over the victims of the tsunami waves that hit the Asian state, a statement issued late Sunday by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry read.

The statement highlighted that Cairo would stand by Indonesia and its people in this ordeal.

More than 220 people have been killed and 843 injured after a tsunami hit coastal towns on Indonesia's Sunda Strait.

The Sunday Strait, between the islands of Java and Sumatra, connects the Java Sea to the Indian Ocean.
