President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi said on Sunday that Egypt is keen on implementing the highest international standards of nuclear security and safety at the under-construction El-Dabaa power plant.
The president made the remarks during a meeting with International Atomic Energy Agency head Yukiya Amano, in the presence of Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker.
“Egypt seeks to establish full cooperation with the IAEA to support the operation and maintenance of the nuclear station,” El-Sisi said.
The president hailed Amano’s efforts to guarantee the peaceful use of nuclear technology worldwide and back peace and security at the international level, said presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement on the meeting.
El-Sisi affirmed that Egypt aims to use atomic energy for peaceful purposes and to serve its development goals through the establishment of El-Dabaa nuclear power station, his spokesman said.
