Egypt's Sisi discusses dangers of terrorism with African, Middle Eastern prosecutors

Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi discussed on Wednesday in a meeting with Middle Eastern and North African prosecutors-general strengthening cooperation against the threat of terrorism, a statement by El-Sisi’s spokesperson Bassam Rady read.

The conference, the first of its kind to be hosted in Cairo, was attended by Egypt's Prosecutor-General Nabil Sadek. 

El-Sisi stressed the danger to society posed by terrorists returning from conflict zones to their countries of origin.

The president said the conference was organised by the Egyptian public prosecution to strengthen international cooperation in the face of the increasing threat of the financing of terrorism and money laundering operations, describing these as the most important challenges facing the world. 

El-Sisi discussed Egypt's vision in combating terrorism, which is tackling the problem from the security, political, economic, social, intellectual and religious aspects, as well as combating funding and political and media support for terrorist groups.

The meeting witnessed an open dialogue between the president and the participating prosecutors-general, who praised Egypt for hosting the conference, which contributes to the development of counterterrorism mechanisms to cope with the latest technological developments used in terrorist operations. 

El-Sisi also stressed Egypt's support for the public prosecution and various judicial bodies in Egypt, as well as the importance of judicial independence.
