Heatwave expected in Egypt on Saturday

Head of the Central Administration for Forecasts and Analysis at Egypt’s Meteorological Authority (EMA) Ibrahim Attallah has said that next Saturday is expected to see the first intense heat wave of 2019 in Egypt, with temperatures in Cairo expected to reach highs of 33 degrees Celsius.

Attallah expects unstable weather to continue in the upcoming days, and temperatures are expected to rise starting gradually from Wednesday to Friday.

The EMA noted that there is a possibility of light rain along the northern coast during the upcoming period, which should increase the sense of cold at night.

The summer season in Egypt starts on 21 June, while spring starts on 20 March.

The forecast (with highs and lows in Celsius) over the next three days is as follows:

Thursday

Cairo: 26-14

Northern Eastern Coasts / North Sinai: 21 – 14

Northern Western Coasts: 22-15

Northern Upper Egypt: 28-14

South Upper Egypt: 31-16

South Sinai/ Hurghada: 28-17

Friday

Cairo: 28-14

Northern Eastern Coasts/North Sinai: 22-14

North Western Coasts: 23-15

Northern Upper Egypt: 29-14
