Polish FM hails Egypt's mediating role in MENA region, says agreements will be signed in May

Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz says that he is seeking to strengthen cooperation with Egypt in all fields, and that the two countries will sign a number of agreements in May.

The polish minister’s comments came during a press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry in Cairo. 

The Polish FM highlighted that his country appreciates Egypt's mediating role in Africa, stressing that Egypt plays an important role in the region.

He also stressed that Egypt has played a strong role in curbing irregular migration.

The duo also discussed the latest developments in Sudan, Libya and Palestine, as well as the crisis in Yemen, Shoukry said at the press conference.

Czaputowicz stressed that Poland supports a peaceful settlement in the Palestinian issue, expressing hope that peace and security will be achieved in the Middle East and stressing that Egypt plays an important role in achieving peace in the region.

Czaputowiczwe also hailed Egypt's role in combating extremism and terrorist organisations, as well as in helping achieve sustainable development in Africa.

The press conference was preceded by meetings between delegations from both countries, which discussed cooperation as well as the latest regional and international developments.
