Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry expressed Cairo's deep appreciation for the level of cooperation and coordination with Jordan, which is reflected in the intensity of visits and high-level meetings exchanged between the two countries.
Shoukry's remarks came during a meeting with Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by Egypt's foreign ministry.
The meeting came on the sidelines of the preparatory meeting for the 14th Islamic Summit Conference of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), scheduled to be held 31 May in Mecca.
Ahmed Hafez, spokesperson of the foreign ministry, said in the statement that the meeting discussed means of boosting bilateral cooperation and coordination on regional issues of mutual interest.
Hafez said that the two ministers also exchanged views on a number of regional issues, including the Palestinian file in addition to the situation in Syria, Libya and Yemen.
They also discussed ways to promote joint action so as to face current challenges in the Arab and Muslim worlds, the spokesman added.
