EgyptAir cancels flights to Sudan on Tuesday amid turmoil in Khartoum

Egypt’s national flagship airline EgyptAir has cancelled two flights that were scheduled to depart from Cairo to Khartoum on Tuesday given the ongoing political turmoil in the country.

In an official statement, EgyptAir said it cancelled two trips that were to depart from Cairo International Airport to Khartoum International Airport at 4pm and 11:45pm.

The Egyptian airline has repeatedly cancelled flights in the past weeks over the instability in Khartoum since the ousting of longtime president Omar Al-Bashir in April.

At least 35 people were killed in the worst violence since the overthrow of Al-Bashir in April as security forces stormed the main protest area in Khartoum.
