The government plans to take all necessary measures to compensate Nubians affected by building and raising the height of Aswan reservoir and erecting the High Dam, Aswan Governor Ahmed Ibrahim said on Wednesday.
The governor added that the state will disburse compensation payments to eligible people during a major ceremony to be held in September.
Ibrahim made his remarks in a press statements at cabinet's headquarters on Wednesday.
The government will start receiving applications for compensation within a maximum period of three weeks as of Tuesday, June 25, the governor said.
Afterwards, any grievances will be submitted within 10 days after announcing the names of those eligible for compensation, Ibrahim noted.
Highlighting the state's serious approach to resolving this issue, the governor said that a competent ministerial committee will follow up the application process to ensure everything is going smoothly.
