The UN General Assembly (UNGA) President María Fernanda Espinosa is set to arrive in Egypt on Tuesday for talks with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and key officials in the country.
In an official press release on Tuesday, the UN office in Egypt said that Espinosa will also meet Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II and other senior political and community leaders.
Espinosa is set to deliver a lecture at Egypt's prestigious Cairo University entitled 'Multilateralism in a Changing World' as part of an event hosted by the country's National Council of Women.
Her visit comes more than a year after she was elected as president of the UNGA's 73rd session in June 2018; the fourth woman to hold the position and the first since 2006.
