Egypt's Prosecutor General Nabil Sadek said Thursday that an MoU signed this month with his US counterpart William Barr was the first of its kind on judicial cooperation between Egypt and the US.

The MoU aims at boosting judicial cooperation through sharing expertise, and at fighting crime at all levels, as both countries are working on enforcing the rule of law, Sadek said.

According to the statement issued by the US Department of Justice on 18 July, the MoU will strengthen the partnership of the US and Egypt on fighting terrorism, transnational crime and other criminal activity.

The MOU will see increased consultation on mutual legal assistance between the two countries as well as the broader exchange of ideas and practices to enhance the capabilities and experience of prosecutors.
