Egypt's PM holds meeting on preparations for GEM opening

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Saturday held a meeting to follow up preparations for opening the Great Egyptian Museum (GEM).

The meeting was attended by Antiquities Minister Khaled El Anany and Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) Mostafa Waziri, among others.

The meeting also touched upon the progress of the implementation of the Antiquities Ministry’s archaeological projects set to be completed by December at a cost of some EGP 1.479 billion.

Anany reviewed preparations for opening the GEM project, whose cost is $970 million.

Anany said a number of important archaeological projects will be also completed in 2020 at a total cost of some EGP 1.054 billion.
