A number of Egyptian and Saudi naval units will participate for several days in the naval training "Red Waves 2" in the territorial waters of Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea, a statement by Egypt's Armed Forces spokesperson said on Sunday.
The training includes the participation of naval forces from Jordan, Djibouti, Sudan and Yemen.
Various naval units comprising frigates, logistics and reinforcement vessels, rocket launchers, mine hunters and explosives sweepers, as well as special naval forces, are participating in the training.
The training involves the implementation of several training activities that contribute to the standardisation of operational concepts and enhance the ability of forces to plan and manage joint naval combat operations.
This training comes within the Armed Forces' joint training framework plan with brotherly and friendly countries, to exchange expertise in naval combat and reach the highest levels of operational efficiency and combat readiness.
