Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met Tuesday with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA).

During the meeting, President El-Sisi expressed his hope that Egyptian-British ties will see further progress in the next period, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement.

El-Sisi added that Egypt is keen on strengthening cooperation with the UK in various fields, especially in the economic, political, security and tourism domains, as well as enhancing political consultation and coordination on regional and international issues of common concern.

In turn, Johnson said he was keen to meet with El-Sisi again after their August meeting in France to continue consultation and coordination on ways to promote bilateral relations and discuss regional and international developments.

PM Johnson affirmed his country's determination to promote bilateral relations with Egypt at all levels, praising the positive developments witnessed by the Egyptian economy over the past few years.

Johnson also hailed Egypt's role in consolidating peace and stability in the Middle East.

The two leaders also mulled ongoing efforts to confront terrorism and extremism by exchanging information and cutting off funding for terrorist groups, Rady said.

Prisedent El-Sisi and PM Johnson also discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, especially the crises in Libya, Syria and Yemen, agreeing to intensify bilateral and international efforts to reach comprehensive political solutions for these crises.
