President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi opened an exhibition called Torathena (“Our Heritage”) of heritage, arts products and handicrafts from different Egyptian governorates on Wednesday morning.

El-Sisi met with the exhibitors and entrepreneurs from different governorates, and encouraged them to expand and increase production to create new job opportunities.

The four-day exhibition, which is being held at the International Exhibition Centre in New Cairo, is organised by the state’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA).

El-Sisi directed the amount of financial support provided to the exhibition by the MSMEDA be increased.

He also ordered that the concept of making the exhibition permanent, and holding similar exhibitions abroad to open export markets in various countries of the world, be studied.

More than 500 exhibitors are participating in the exhibition, which is free to the public.

During a cabinet meeting on the same day, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said that El-Sisi had directed the concerned ministries to offer full support to heritage handicrafts and to provide marketing outlets for that purpose, in light of the state's concern with micro and small enterprises in general and heritage handicrafts in particular.
