Tantawi meets with Palestinian president

Mahmoud Abbas holds talks with ruling military council head about the Middle East peace process whilst Hamas leader visits Egypt to discuss Gaza's ongoing fuel shortage

Egypt's military ruler Field Marshall Hussein Tantawi has met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and his delegation on Thursday.

During the meeting held in Egypt, the group discussed developments in the Middle East peace process and the measures taken to establish unity between the different Palestinian factions.

The meeting was also attended by Egypt's Chief of Staff Sami Annan, El-Sayed Murad Muwafi and the head of Egypt's General Intelligence.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniya is also on a several-day visit to Egypt in order to discuss Gaza's ongoing fuel shortage.
