Egypt's Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese on Thursday inaugurated the Saint Mary and Mar Youhanna Church in Antwerp, Belgium.
The pontiff also opened the main altar of the church under the name of Virgin Mary and Mar Youhanna and another altar under the name of Anba Moussa along with the baptism altar under the name of Bishop Youhanna.
A large number of Christian religious leaders from Egypt, the Netherlands and France attended the church's inauguration.
The church was originally owned by Catholic Church which transferred its ownership to the Coptic Orthodox Church.
The pope's visit to Belgium comes as part of his pastoral tour, during which he will visit a number of European parishes
