Parliamentarian and Deputy Head of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party Essam El-Erian condemned Egypt's Ministry of Interior for recent attacks on political figures including presidential hopeful Abdel-Moneim Aboul Fotouh and FJP member of parliament Hassan El-Prince.

On his official twitter account El-Erian stated on Saturday that the recurring attacks targeting political figures proves that attempts are being made to thwart "real change" and the handover of power to civilian rule. The attacks against Aboul Fotouh and El-Prince, he added, reveals that the Ministry of Interior continues to be negligent and must be held accountable.

The Islamist Aboul Fotouh, a potential candidate for the Egyptian presidency, suffered a concussion Thursday night after three men armed with rifles assaulted him on Cairo's Ring Road and stole his car.

FJP MP Hassan El-Prince was involved in a car accident on Friday while on his way to give a lecture in Damanhour. El-Prince alleged the crash was no accident but was intentional, as he has been campaigning to move ousted president Hosni Mubarak to a prison hospital.
