Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on Friday ordered the swift completion of a number of road and bridge projects in Cairo's Heliopolis in order to alleviate the suffering of residents, his spokesman Bassam Rady said.
The projects, which include upgrading a number of major squares and the construction of new bridges, are aimed at easing traffic congestion in the upscale district.
They will also link the area to major highways both within the capital and those connecting Cairo with some of the new cities being constructed by the state, the spokesman added.
El-Sisi made the comments during a Friday visit to one of the construction sites in Heliopolis.
