Egypt's FM discusses Libya developments with UN special envoy

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed in Cairo on Tuesday the latest developments in the Libyan situation with the United Nations Envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame.

Egypt's FM spokesperson Ahmed Hafez said that Shoukry affirmed Egypt's stance on reaching a comprehensive political settlement in Libya in a way that preserves the unity and territorial integrity of the country.

"Egypt supports restoring the control of state institutions and the fight against terrorist organisations and militias with a comprehensive vision to achieve political entitlements and empower the brotherly people of Libya," the statement said.

"The meeting also discussed the latest preparations for the upcoming Berlin conference on Libya."

Salame praised the Egyptian efforts to restore security and achieve stability in Libya.
