Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has asserted the anti-Daesh international coalition needs to continue exerting efforts to achieve its targets, necessitating the confrontation of any country that uses terrorism to achieve political goals.

Shoukry on Thursday took part in a ministerial meeting of the Small Group of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS (D-ISIS), held in Washington in the presence of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and a host of foreign ministers and representatives of the member states.

He stressed that the coalition needs to pay attention to face thoughts propagated by Daesh, voicing Egypt’s desire and readiness to contribute to backing such efforts and spreading moderate Islam through Azhar and Dar al Iftaa.

The minister praised remarkable achievements made by the coalition to defeat ISIS in Syria and Iraq, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

Shoukry warned against serious consequences of violation of Syrian sovereignty and touched upon the impacts of Turkish aggression on the Syrian territories.
