Various parts of Cairo and other governorates witnessed Thursday a spell of unstable weather, including heavy and above average rain, and dust storms, causing the closure of some roads and ports.

The day started with heavy rain in Cairo and Alexandria, affecting road traffic flows in the early hours of the morning.

Egypt's general directorate of traffic announced Thursday morning the closure of the Suez-Zaafarana Road, due to a severe dust storm, before opening it again few hours later.

The directorate called on all drivers to abide by instructions, especially in the coming days, for their safety.

Meanwhile, Borolous Lake Port Authority closed the port and suspended fishing in the lake due to bad weather, gale force winds and high waves.

More than 500 fishing boats are docked at the port, Borolous chief fishermen Abdel Nabi Kamoun said.

The port of Sharm El-Sheikh has been closed in South Sinai Governorate due to bad weather, according to the media centre of the Red Sea Ports Authority.

Egypt's Meteorological Authority issued a warning Wednesday that Cairo and some other locales would see unstable weather starting Thursday.

"Weather fluctuations, including rains or winds or low temperatures, are forecast for the next four days,” it said.
