Egypt, FAO sign letter of intent to enhance youth, women empowerment

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry signed a letter of intent with FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu on cooperation to strengthen youths and women empowerment. 

They met on Sunday on the sidelines of the 3rd edition of the World Youth Forum, which kicked off in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh on Friday.

The minister praised the participation of the director-general in the forum and stressed Cairo’s focus on achieving food security under the Egypt Vision 2030 of sustainable development, Foreign Minister Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.

Shoukry asserted the need to maximize cooperation with the FAO in this field in the coming period. 

Hafez added that the meeting reviewed the pivotal role of FAO to help African countries implement the Africa Vision 2063 in different fields.
