Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi offered his condolences to the Algerian people and government over the death of Army Chief of Staff Ahmed Gaid Salah.
On his social media page, El-Sisi described the late commander as "a respectful and appreciable person, who spared no effort to maintain Algeria's stability."
El-Sisi highlighted Salah's role in organising the presidential election in Algeria in a democratic atmosphere in mid-December.
