Wednesday will be a paid holiday for the banking sector in Egypt to mark the new year, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said Sunday.
 
"On the occasion of the end of the financial year of most banks on 31 December, the CBE decided to suspend work at all banks operating in Egypt on Wednesday, 1 January 2020," the CBE said in a statement.
 
Work in all Egyptian banks will resume Thursday, 2 January, the statement added.
