Coptic Orthodox Christians, who comprise the majority of Egypt's Christians, celebrate Christmas on 7 January, following the Julian calendar

Egypt's Minister of Manpower Mohamed Saafan announced on Monday that Tuesday 7 January, 2020 will be a paid holiday for the private sector on the occasion of the Coptic Orthodox Christamas.

Coptic Orthodox Christians, who comprise the majority of Egypt's Christians, celebrate Christmas on 7 January, following the Julian calendar.

The minister offered Christmas greetings to Egyptian Christians in his statement.

The Coptic Christmas has been a public holiday in Egypt since 2003.
