Egypt said it reopening the harbors of two of its Mediterranean ports Alexandria and Dekhila after a slight improvement in weather.

Alexandria Ports Authority spokesman Reda Al-Ghandour said on Saturday the ports have allowed entry to some moored ships.

On Friday, both harbors were shut down over unstable weather. They have suffered a rise in wave height and an increase in wind speed that could pose problems to maritime navigation.

The winter season officially begins in Egypt on 21 December.

Over the past weeks, Egypt has seen several instances of flash floods that have caused road closures and traffic congestion.
