Parliament agrees on timeline to form constituent assembly to write the new constitution

Egypt's Upper and Lower Houses have decided in their first joint session Saturday on the timeline for forming the constituent assembly which will be responsible for drafting the country's new constitution.

Parliament speaker Saad El-katatni announced that parliament will form a committee to receive all suggestions regarding the criteria to form the constituent assembly.

The committee will be receiving suggestions until Thursday 8 March. The parliament is to discuss all suggestions on Saturday 17 Mach and will accordingly elect the constituent assembly on 24 March.
