Egypt's House of Representatives declared official mourning with flags to be flown at half-mast for three days in honour of Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said of Oman, who passed away on Friday, aged 79.

Earlier, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi declared a three-day period of mourning over the death of Qaboos.

House of Representatives speaker Ali Abdel Aal mourned the Omani sultan, saying the late leader fulfilled his duty towards his country and people, and succeeded in building a modern country through his prudent and wise policy.
