Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi said on Thursday that Police Day is not only a special occasion for policemen but for all Egyptians.

In his speech on the occasion of the 68th annual Police Day, El-Sisi said, "it was a day of pride, dignity and patriotism as feelings of pride were mixed with the sacrifices of men who did not hesitate to offer their souls for the sake of the homeland."

"They fought and stood up, setting the most wonderful example in sacrificing their soul for their country," he said.

"Today, policemen are re-writing history once again by firmly standing against the forces of evil and those supporting them to foil their heinous attempts to undermine the state," he added.

El-Sisi said in his speech that history would look to the Egyptian experiment with great admiration, as Egyptians have proven that they alone can build their future.

He paid tribute to Egyptian people who he said had endured with patience the unprecedented tough economic reforms that have been implemented in recent years in light of unstable regional and local conditions.

The entire world witnessed how Egypt became a place for stability and security in a few years, he said. They saw the major economic achievements and development boom that were realised on the ground, he added.

El-Sisi saluted Egyptian women who supported their families in such conditions, Egyptian men for defying hardships, and promising Egyptian youths, who are leading their country to a better future.

The president said the fierce battle policemen are fighting against terrorism is a source of admiration for everyone, adding that such tough duties and responsibilities are only endured by brave people who are aware of national allegiances.

He said Police Day coincides with the anniversary of the 25 January revolution, which called for a decent life for Egyptians, and expressed appreciation to all Egyptian people on this occasion.

At the end, El-Sisi wished more prosperity, stability and welfare for Egypt.
