Egypt's unemployment increased by 0.2 percent in Q4 2019: CAPMAS

Some 2.329 million Egyptians, including 1.120 million males and 1.209 million females, are unemployed

The Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) said on Saturday that the unemployment rate in Egypt went up by 0.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2019 to reach 8 percent of the workforce, compared to 7.8 percent in the third quarter of the same year.

CAPMAS, Egypt's official statistics agency, said the total workforce increased by 1.9 percent to reach 28.950 million in Q4 2019, compared to 28.406 million in the third quarter of 2019.

The number of unemployed people is 2.329 million, including 1.120 million males and 1.209 million females, CAPMAS added.
