Egypt's Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights and International Humanitarian and Social Affairs Ehab Gamal El-Din held a meeting on Wednesday with several representatives of Egyptian civil society organisations at the headquarters of the foreign ministry.

According to a statement by the foreign ministry, the meeting tackled the recommendations Egypt received in the third round of the Universal Periodic Review mechanism of the UN Human Rights Council.

"Egypt's stance on such recommendations was also discussed, considering that civil society is a key partner for the government in developing a unified national position regarding the recommendations and in the process of implementing them," the statement said.
