Classes in schools and universities nationwide will be suspended on Tuesday due to the unstable weather and heavy rains that have been showering the country since the wee hours of Monday morning.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said on Monday the decision was taken to enable people to weather off the rain that is expected to fall in several areas in Egypt on Tuesday.
The prime minister requested the activation of the cabinet's crisis chamber that will be in touch with concerned bodies to deal with the expected weather conditions in the coming few hours.
Various parts in Egypt saw a spell of unstable weather, including heavy rain since Monday morning affecting road traffic flows.
Earlier this week, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority forecast that several parts of the country will see a three-day wave of unstable weather starting Sunday.
Rain would be accompanied by a drop in temperatures of 4-5 degrees Celsius, the authority added.
