Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed the latest regional developments in the Middle East with Bahraini counterpart Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani in Cairo on Tuesday, the Egyptian foreign ministry said.
According to the statement, the two officials discussed a number of regional issued especially the peace process in the Middle East, the situation in Libya and Syria, and the threats to Arab countries in the Gulf region.
Shoukry and Al-Zayani also discussed bilateral relations.
This is Al-Zayani's first visit to Egypt since assuming the position of foreign minister.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Bahraini foreign minister met with Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, delivering a message from the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Issa, El-Sisi’s office said.
The message touched on strong relations between Egypt and Bahrain, the presidency said.
King Hamad also said he appreciated the major strategic role played by Egypt in protecting Arab national security and defending Arab causes, according to the statement.
