Egypt’s interior ministry said it is suspending the issuing of driver’s licenses at all of its traffic offices from Thursday till 16 April to stem the spread of the coronavirus epidemic.

In a statement, the interior ministry said it will also suspend the issuance and renewal of vehicle licences during the same period, and asked those with non-valid licenses to pay their renewal fees at electronic Fawry outlets or post offices.

Egypt has put in place a number of measures to combat the spread of the virus, including suspending international flights from 19 to 31 March, shutting down schools and universities, and banning large gatherings.
