Egypt's health ministry has called on Egyptian pilgrims who return from the umra pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia to isolate themselves in their homes for 14 days as a precautionary procedure against the spread of the coronavirus.

According to health ministry spokesperson Khaled Megahed, Egyptian returnees from the pilgrimage must follow all precautionary instructions, and if they have any coronavirus symptoms, they must head to the nearest chest or fever hospital or call the ministry's health hotline 105 or 15335 to seek help.

Earlier this week, the health ministry said that a number of confirmed cases of coronavirus were Egyptians who had returned from the pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia suspended pilgrimage to Mecca earlier this month over coronavirus.

Yesterday, Egypt suspended international flights until 31 March.
